Fire at Spokane retirement home, Idaho superintendent wants input on added school security and other headlines

The superintendent of Idaho public schools wants feedback from students, parents and the public on plans to add security officers to schools and increase other resources in an attempt to be more prepared for gun violence or other emergencies.

NEWS: Former Air Force general/astronaut Kevin Chilton will speak at WSU's Pullman campus about nuclear deterrence at 4:30 pm today.

Spokane firefighters carried some residents down as many as 14 flights of stairs Monday after an early morning fire started near the top floors of the Lilac Plaza Retirement Community. (KXLY)
