On Saturday night, Inland Northwest journalists gathered to note the best work of 2006. The Society of Professional Journalists' Inland Northwest chapter honored The Inlander with the following awards. The competitors were non-daily newspapers from all over Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana.

Our fellow competitors included Seattle Weekly, Eugene Weekly, Willamette Week (Portland), The Source (Bend), Anchorage Press, Idaho Mountain Express (Sun Valley) and the Missoula Independent.
