Cheney restaurants celebrate EWU homecoming week with 'Eagle Eats Week' specials

Eagle pride has spread its wings wide over the Inland Northwest and the city of Cheney this week as students, alumni, staff and other members of the Eagle family celebrate Homecoming Week, Oct. 7-13. As part of the celebration, local restaurants are joining together to offer a collection of menu specials and dishes themed around the university for the inaugural Eagle Eats Week.

The "Inferno" honey latte is sprinkled with cinnamon and cayenne and on special during Eagle Eats Week.
The following Cheney restaurants are participating: Barrelhouse Pub & Pizza, Bene's, Eagle's Pub, Marketplace Bakery, the Mason Jar and Zip's.

The promotion is likened to the annual Inlander Restaurant Week, but with less restrictions on pricing and menu format. All specials offered at the six restaurants through this Sunday for Eagle Eats Week are listed online here.

At the Barrelhouse, three $25 specials are meant to be shared between two, like the Homecoming Combo of two hot sandwiches with Tim's Cascade chips and a large house salad.

At Bene's, try the house-made Tailgate Chili for $5/cup or $7/bowl. For breakfast, the cafe's IncREDible Waffle ($6.50) is colored red and topped with black whipped cream.

Most of the specials have fun Eag-inspired names, like Marketplace Bakery's Swoop chicken sandwich, named after EWU's beloved mascot. The cafe is also serving the spicy Inferno burger, stuffed and topped with spicy peppers. The Inferno is a nickname for Roos Fields' infamous red turf.

At the Mason Jar, meanwhile, the Inferno takes the form of a cinnamon, cayenne and honey latte.

Eagle Eats Week is a collaboration between EWU and the Cheney Merchants Association.

For the Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 12, Eastern takes on the University of Northern Colorado at Roos Field; kickoff is at 1:05 pm. Tickets for the game ($18-$73) are still available. Find EWU Homecoming Week's complete events schedule here.
