Bonsai Bistro -- The Bonsai Bistro (housed in a renovated concrete building just across the street from the resort) is a fun restaurant with a cool concept and pan-Asian foods that range from mild and comfortable to fiery and stylish. The interior is understated, with warm earth tones complementing the chic lighting. The ginger chicken and broccoli ($12) is lovely. The crispy beef Szechuan ($13) is hot and tingly, with lots of julienne carrots and celery, green onions and bean sprouts in a spicy sweet and sour soy sauce. 101 Sherman Ave., CdA Call: (208) 765-4321 (Reviewed 9/30/04, LM)





Go Go Burrito -- Go Go Burrito's interior is modern, functional and stylish, with an understated psychedelic design motif featuring love beads, day-glo signage and a pink go-go boot lamp. The hefty fish burrito ($5.50) included marinated cod fish (not the deep-fried stuff you sometimes get), rice, pinto beans, cabbage, salsa, guacamole, chipotle sauce and a squirt of fresh lime, all neatly wrapped up in a wheat tortilla. It was excellent -- on par with the best burritos in town. The build-your-own veggie burrito ($4.50) -- stuffed with black beans, rice, cheese, salsa, sour cream, onions, lettuce, and chipotle sauce -- was spicy (but not overwhelmingly), generous and tasty, with the fresh vegetables adding a nice crunch. 1902 W. Caife Cistin -- OK, so maybe Ireland isn't really known for its rich, fresh coffee beans, but Post Falls' Caife Cistin is known for offering a variety of the region's best roasters. The latte we ordered was clean and bright with none of the murky burned beans essence that sometimes mars even the most conscientious latte. The Americano -- made from Portland Roasting Company's finest -- was also an above-par coffee concoction. The baked goods -- many supplied by Spokane's Sweetwater Baking Company -- include bagels, muffin tops, cookies and a variety of bars. Kim Do Vietnamese Restaurant -- Kim Do makes it easy to enjoy authentically prepared Vietnamese dishes -- and great service, too. The family-run restaurant is cheerful, very tidy and spotlessly clean. Each table is outfitted with a stainless steel spoon/fingerbowl/chopstick caddy and a stunning array of condiments. The fresh spring rolls are terrific, translucent rolls filled with shrimp, noodles and vegetables and served with peanut sauce.
