Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington 5th District) has just been elected to a second term as Mom. Her office announced this afternoon that the congresswoman and her husband, Brian, became parents of a healthy baby girl at 12:21 this morning in a Washington, D.C., hospital.
McMorris Rodgers staff tells The Inlander they don't yet know the name for the new arrival. The baby girl is the second child for the couple, joining brother Cole, who is three and a half. It's also too early to tell if the Republican majority in the House has grown by one.
Weird Stat o' the Day: The press release notes "McMorris Rodgers is the first member of Congress to give birth twice while in office."
Take THAT, Newt Gingrich.
