FRIDAY
No one enjoys being hungry, it’s true. Tonight the Checkerboard Bar is hosting a show called F—- Hunger & Beats for Babies with proceeds going to the local non-profit Baskets For Babies. Local musicians Bodhi Drip, Madeline McNeill, Jaeda, Crave, WurdOne, DJ Nitrace and more will be featured.
Keyboard-heavy trio Summer in Siberia plays for free tonight at Jones Radiator. Sea Giant, Von the Baptist and Team Growl open the show which starts at 8:30 pm. Whatever this show is, it won’t be boring.
Lil John rose to popularity on the international stage as the guy who basically just shouted “YEAH!” and “OK!” in Usher songs. But the glittery-grilled yell-rapper has been rolling in it ever since (see the insane video below). Enjoy a little bit of pimp juice as you get down to his salacious tunes tonight at the Knitting Factory. The show is $25, starts at 9 pm and is 18+.
SATURDAY
Oooooob. Say it again, say it anyway. Yes, Oooooob is just a fun band name to say. They’re a kooky band to listen to as well. They play Jones Radiator along with Chisholmism and Ball of Destruction Saturday at 10 pm.
The Swamp Stomp people, it’s not just about the cars — get over to the Swamp Tavern Saturday all day to see awesome local acts like Mirror Mirror, BBBBandits, Gorilla Rabbit and Chicken and Johnny J & the Killer Dillers all for free. THEN head over to Mootsy’s for the Swamp Stomp After Party, which features the Coltranes, Hard Time and Nailbastard.
SUNDAY
The Phat House has Los Angeles folk act the Show Ponies and Moscow folk rockers Runaway Symphony. It’s all ages and going to lead to absolutely refreshing Sunday evening if you show up for it.
