And summer takes another hit.
Strolling Spokane's Coeur d'Alene Park in Browne's Addition for the
Northwest Museum of Art & Culture's annual ArtFest is one of the pleasures of early summer, typically. But obviously "typical" doesn't exist anymore.
But there's a bright side:
ArtFest will become an online juried art show and sale May 29-31, so you can still get your fix of fresh new artwork and support the artists, too — just from a safe distance.
Unfortunately, the traditional Mother's Day Tour of Homes won't happen at all this year, picking up again May 8-9, 2021. ArtFest will return to its full outdoor glory, June 4-6, 2021.
“With the city of Spokane unable to approve permits for large public events scheduled in May, and possibly beyond, due to the COVID19 pandemic, along with the many other arts festivals and special events moving into summer or early fall, we will proceed with a reimagined ArtFest Online 2020 and save the Mother’s Day Tour of homes for next year," says Wes Jessup, the MAC's executive director, in an emailed statement. "The health and safety of our thousands of participants is still of concern."
