THIS WEEKEND IN MUSIC: Elkfest! Junkfest! Nugestock!

Posted By on Fri, Jun 4, 2010 at 12:37 PM

It is a weekend of fests! Here's your guide to one of the coolest weekends to call yourself a Spokanite.

ELKFEST! Rain, shine, hail, sleet, plague of frogs — Elkfest marches on. Today at 4 pm, the Booze Fighters kick things off, followed by performances by Finn Riggins and arena-style-rockers-who-might-as-well-move-here Shim. Tomorrow, Blood Hot Beat starts things off at 2 pm, La Cha Cha at 4 pm, Real Life Rockaz at 6 pm and Son Dulce at 8 pm. And Sunday: Whiskey Dick Mountain plays at 1 pm, then the White Buffalo at 3 pm, Space Opera 77 at 4:30 pm, Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band at 6 pm and James Pants rocks a DJ set to close the whole thing down at 8 pm. Free. Awesome. Be there. (Search Elkfest listings.)

JUNKFEST! Clever after-party planning over at Sunset Junction by Platform Booking. Tonight: Local rapper Quiz releases his new record, Not a Mixtape. He performs with Jaeda, Freetime Synthetic and DJ Stone Tobey. Tomorrow: Check out the "harsh psychedelics" of Xrin Arms, along with Limbs, Belt of Vapor, Please Draw in Me, Team Growl and DJ Likes Girls. Tickets are $8. 21 . More here.

NUGESTOCK! The Seaside holds its own little fest. Tonight Seven Cycles, Oceans of Red, Subvert, Abrupt Edge and Hinge play. Two shows tomorrow: The early show features Lucid, Benign, Drop Off, 33 and 4 Ways to Fall. The late show features performances by London Get Down, the Toy Garden, La Cha Cha, In-Flux and One Fall. Tickets $5-7. Early show tomorrow is all-ages.

Here's hoping this goddamn rain lets up...
