MORNING BRIEFING -- ... and the Mystery of the Missing Papers

Over Here

A paltry $100,000 a year? -- Mayoral David Condon has, as he promised in his campaign, kept his salary at Mary Verner's voluntarily lower salary -- at least for his first year. And by now, he must know: If he gives up that money, he ain't getting it back. (SR)

Paper disposal -- About 500 Easterner papers were dumped in a recycling bin at Eastern Washington University. Stealing even free papers, after all, is illegal. (KXLY)

Over There

Deadly ironic -- Protesters in Egypt, furious over deaths in a soccer riot, riot -- and police kill four. (NYT)

Back to the clinic -- The Susan G. Komen foundation -- the breast cancer group you see raising all the awareness -- had infuriated supporters of Planned Parenthood by withdrawing funding from the organization (which, while general supporters of women's health, does not provide mammograms.) But now, after public outcry, they've reversed their decision. (Atlantic Wire)
