Spokane Valley police last week arrested a 35-year-old Newman Lake man for running a variety of schemes to rip people off.
Eric Pittsley allegedly chiseled 17 different people via craigslist, according to a statement from police.
Pittsley would convince people to pay rent on a house he didn't own and they couldn't enter, the statement says. In other instances, he would allegedly advertise a car on craigslist for sale below the market price, then get people to pay a deposit of about $500 in exchange for Pittsley delivering the car. Pittsley would never deliver the car, the statement says.
"If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is," the statement reads.
