MORNING BRIEFING: gay marriage, the NSA and remembering Isamu Jordan

Local hip-hop artist and music journalist Isamu Jordan, "Som" to most, died Thursday of apparent suicide, leading to a huge outpouring of support on social media and a candlelight vigil last night in Coeur d'Alene Park. (Inlander/SR)

The will-he-won't-he continues over whether President Obama plans to strike Syria if an upcoming congressional vote on the matter fails. His deputy national security advisor said he wouldn't. Then, when asked about it, Obama said "I don't think that's exactly what he said" and refused to answer directly about whether he would or wouldn't strike. (NPR)

Some Iraqi officials say Iranian-backed militias inside Iraq could retaliate against "American interests" in Iraq if the U.S. bombs Syria. (TIME)

A San Diego school district now says it will expunge the records of a group of students who were suspended for "twerking" in an online video. (UTSD)
