FRIDAY
As it is every first Friday of the month, local artists and musicians will be playing all over town in honor of First Friday. Check out the full listings here.
Tonight is just the night to go hear experimental ambient instrumental rock, obviously. Head over to Jones Radiator around 9-ish for an awesomely noisy show from Hooves, also featuring Ampersand.
Do you have the blues? Probably not because, it’s finally the weekend. Local jump blues act Bakin' Phat proves you don’t have to have the blues to listen to them anyway. Check 'em out tonight at Chateau Rive. The show also includes Kenny James Miller Band and is $10. Show starts at 8 pm.
SATURDAY
The Elk Public House has been around for 15 years! No, we can’t believe it either. In honor of the blessed anniversary, the Browne’s Addition restaurant is throwing a special party featuring the local band Lavoy and more. The festivities start at 7 pm.
Anyone in the mood for some local hip-hop should head over to the March Into Madness show at the Knitting Factory Saturday. It includes Unique, Cordell Drake, Destiny, Versatial, Pest and more. The show starts at 8 pm and is free!
SUNDAY
Qui (pronounced kwee) will bring its brand of avante-garde rock to Mootsy’s Sunday night. Once a three-piece that included Jesus Lizard’s David Yow, the group is now down to two. But that doesn’t mean they’re not still decidedly weird. The show includes Bitwvlf and Ian Miles and is $5. Show starts around 9 pm.
