The first wave of bands have been announced for the first-ever Bartfest — Bear in Heaven (a rock/electronic act from Brooklyn), Desert Noises (indie rockers from Provo, Utah) and Modern Kin (a Portland-based pop rock three-piece). Event organizers plan to add 17 other acts to the lineup, which will feature regional and local talent.
We’ve been slammed with a handful of festivals recently — luckily, Bartfest is still a couple months out. The event will happen Sept. 5–6 (the weekend after Seattle’s Bumbershoot, so you can do both) at both the Bartlett and its next-door neighbor nYne. An excellent idea, as anyone who showed up to Volume saw how the venues worked well in tandem, spilling into one another when one ran out of room.
Tickets for the event will go on sale July 7.
