Engaging talk, trick shots and an updated Shrew

Getting back to work after a long weekend? That can be rough. Better check out our event listings and Staff Picks for something fun to do.

Here are some highlights for Tuesday, Feb. 17:

WORDS | Humanities Washington regularly hosts community discussions that are engaging, entertaining and educating. A recent stop for the series in Spokane was recounted in our most-recent Distilled column, and tonight the organization is back to Lindamen's Gourmet Bistro for a discussion called "From Smoke Signals to Aladdin: Race in Film."

SPORTS & OUTDOORS | Cue up "Sweet Georgia Brown"! The Harlem Globetrotters drop by Spokane Arena for a night of family-friend fun, trick shots and hijinks victimizing (in a fun way) their long-suffering opponents the Washington Generals.

FILM | It's Totally Tubular Tuesday at the Garland Theater, this week featuring Heath Ledger in one of his first big roles in 10 Things I Hate About You. The "modern" take on Taming of the Shrew was not too shabby, and also included Joseph Gordon-Leavitt and Julia Stiles in its cast. Here's a look:
