Last chance to nominate someone for Spokane's Citizen Hall of Fame

Posted By on Tue, Feb 9, 2016 at 12:47 PM

Forgive us for the late notice on this one (we just found out that the deadline is today), but if you've been thinking about nominating someone for the 2016 inductee class of Spokane's Citizen Hall of Fame, you have until 5 pm today.

Spokane's Citizen Hall of Fame was introduced last year by the Spokane Public Library Foundation, in partnership with the City of Spokane, to honor individuals of both the past and present who have made significant contributions to the development of our community and the quality of life here.

There are several categories for which a person can be nominated:

  • economic development and business
  • education
  • public service and philanthropy
  • innovation and leadership
  • arts and letters
  • science, health and medicine

While the 2016 class of inductees won't be announced until a ceremony on April 14, the next few months will be used by the selection committee to review each nomination.

Previous inductees into Spokane's Citizen Hall of Fame include artist Harold Balazs, Bloomsday founder Don Kardong, Chief Spokan Garry, Spokane-born Speaker of the House Tom Foley and Expo '74 president King Cole.
