SPD Officer Chris McMurtrey

Who snitched?!
Spokane Police Chief Craig Meidl called the profane behavior of SPD Officer Chris McMurtrey "the most atrocious demeanor I've seen in my career." Trading insults, McMurtrey called a suspect a "dumb shit," a "little f—-ing bitch" and a "punk."

The department spent four months scanning email records and printer logs and interviewed eight officers — not investigating McMurtrey, but rather, trying to find out who told the public about the interaction. The leaked information was a matter of public record. The leaker was never found, despite the time spent on the investigation. But perhaps a message had been sent to whoever might air the police department's dirty laundry in the future.
