Community Awareness

Posted on Mon, Dec 6, 2010 at 10:19 AM

Cheers to the Spokane Homeless Coalition for bringing National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness to us last week. Through your collaborative efforts, successful drives for winter wear & personal hygiene items were held. There was a wonderful Food for Thought dinner at Central UMC & Shalom Ministries, prepared, hosted, served & cleaned up after by students from Gonzaga & Whitworth Universities, a number of community members, & Chef Dan Harris of Sodexo at GU. The DSHS mobile unit was on-site at First Covenant where folks were also able to pick up hats, gloves, scarves, coats & boots (just in time!), & a brief but poignant time of remembering & mindfulness in a memorial service. Keep up the good work!
