Slipped Their Minds -- When spooky-mask-wearin' metal band Slipknot cancelled its original April 17 concert at the Spokane Arena recently, it was rightfully assumed by fans that the show was merely postponed and would be rescheduled at a later date. As it turns out the band has now -- according to Arena Marketing Director Matt Gibson -- officially pulled the plug and cancelled its Spokane appearance. Ticket holders don't need to fret, however, because refunds can be obtained by bringing purchased tickets to the Spokane Arena Box Office at 720 W. Mallon Ave. from Monday through Friday, 10 am-6 pm. You can also obtain your refund by mailing Slipknot tickets to TicketsWest, PO Box 6459, Spokane, WA 99217. Oh, and thanks for the memories, Slip -- not!
Too Laid Back, Trey? -- Speaking of cancellations, this just came in from the Gorge Amphitheater promoter, House of Blues: The Zooma Tour (featuring the dubious hippie charms of Trey Anastasio and Ben Harper) originally scheduled for Sunday, July 31, at the Gorge has been cancelled. This time, though, it wasn't just our local show but the entire tour that got the axe. According to HOB, "The Zooma Tour was conceived to provide fans with an exceptional musical and entertainment experience. Due to unforeseen circumstances, it has become clear that it would not be possible to provide that experience at the level initially envisioned. Rather than go forward with a tour that falls short of what was conceived, everyone involved has mutually agreed that it is best to cancel the tour altogether." Unforeseen circumstances? More likely it was just one too many bong hits.
Petty Seconds -- On the lighter side, a second show has been added to the Tom Petty/Black Crowes deal at the Gorge on Labor Day weekend (now Sept. 2-3). The waiting (for a ticket, anyway) is no longer the hardest part.
