Well Rowed, Lads
The two Gonzaga crew teams that we featured in last week's Inlander (6/5/08) performed very credibly at last weekend's Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships in New Jersey. The freshman eight boat won its final two consolation-round races to finish 13th in the nation. The varsity eight boat finished third in the last of its four races to finish 21st. Coach Dan Gehn's squad has a promising future.
Evergreen's Delicious
Close to 600 guests noshed and sipped (and a few spat) their way through four big rooms at the Davenport on Sunday evening at Taste Washington. Bluefish's tropical poke paired delightfully with a gewurztraminer-viognier blend from Kestrel Vintners, and the T3 ros & eacute; from Townshend complemented the fresh oysters at Anthony's. Robert Karl's estate cab was a knockout with -- well, just about anything. And there were more cocktail dresses per capita than anywhere else in Spokane.
