Cretin Hop: closing and moving

Posted By on Mon, Dec 6, 2010 at 11:52 AM

A run-down, cruddy punk rock club isn't for everyone — including Tom "TC" Chavez, the owner and operator of Spokane's own crusty punk rock venue, the Cretin Hop. After the pipes froze there last Monday, Chavez opted out of the lease and now plans to re-open the business in a new location by January. The Cretin Hop will host the last show this Saturday night at the Howard Street location

Chavez (read our profile of him) says he will start looking at new places to house the beloved all-ages venue today. He assured us that there is no way the Cretin Hop will be closing.

"It's just a question of when and where," he says. "The feedback that I've received — it's been very warm. People don't want to see us close down."

Chavez says he may know as soon as tomorrow where the new Cretin Hop will be. Keep watching Bloglander for updates.

Make sure to drop by the current Hop to "rock the place one last time" on Saturday: Reason for Existence, Bestige, the Lot Lizards, Dark Harvest and Oceans of Obsession play at 6:30 pm. Five bucks. All-ages.
