MORNING HEADLINES: Say What?!

Posted on Thu, Aug 4, 2011 at 8:47 AM

Guilty? Not good enough! — Says Judge Justin Quakenbush to Hells Angel sergeant-at-arms Ricky Jenks. How about we ignore your plea deal and send this to trial! Don't cross Quakenbush. Especially if you've been convicted of manslaughter in your past. (SR)

Pot, pills and a baby — No, that's not the latest Tom Selleck-Steve Guttenberg vehicle. It's a Valley house raided yesterday morning by local law enforcement. Inside, cops found two ounces of marijuana, a bunch of cash, scores of Oxycodone pills and some people smoking Oxycodone. (We know. Weird.) Did we mention the one-month-old baby hanging out in the pill-smoke-filled room? The adults were arrested. (SR)

Financial crisis averted... wait — Nevermind. Despite all the "hard work" put in by our dutiful elected officials — right before they all went on a month-long vacation — financial markets are tumbling with fears of a worsening global economy. (NYT)

And, finally, somebody was born 50 years ago today. (And everybody knows where that birth took place, right?)
