THIS WEEK: Car Seat Headrest, Spokane Unplugged, Winter Beer Fest, LEGO-Rama and more

Looking for something fun to do this week? We have what you need in spades, so take a virtual stroll through our event listings and Staff Picks. And if you don't have time to do it yourself, here are some highlights of the week ahead: 

Monday, Jan. 11

LIVE BANDS | Seattle-based buzz band Car Seat Headrest is creating a lot of noise among indie-rock lovers thanks to a sound evoking some of the finest bands of the '80s and '90s, from Guided by Voices to Pavement. Read our interview with leader Will Toledo, and then consider checking out the show at The Barlett if you can still get tickets. Here's a little sample of the band: 

Tuesday, Jan. 12

FOOD | The Spokane Club hosts a Small Plates Wine Tasting featuring two wine samples from the Woodward Canyon winery paired with each of three small plates by the club's Executive Chef Mark Miskiewicz, all for $45. 

Wednesday, Jan. 13

OPEN MIC | Auntie's hosts Spokane Unplugged: Acoustic Open Mic, an opportunity for artists to share their tunes with an appreciative audience, and for the audience to jump on stage and share some tunes as well. 

Thursday, Jan. 14

COMMUNITY | Learn a little something at the North Spokane Library's Salish Language & Culture night, where you'll enjoy lessons, songs and dances from the Salish School, and even learn a few phrases. 

FOOD & DRINK | The Lantern Tap House kicks off its three-day Winter Beer Fest, with Washington beers taking center stage Thursday, Oregon beers on Friday, and Colorado, Utah, Idaho and California beer featured on Saturday. Live music each night, starting with Andy Rumsey Thursday. 

Friday, Jan. 15

COMEDY | Get into some up-and-coming local comedy with the open mic night at Red Dragon Chinese Friday at 8 pm. 

FOOD & DRINK | Nectar Tasting Room celebrates five years with a party at its Stevens Street location, happening both Friday and Saturday at 5 pm. Free gifts for the first 100 folks both nights!

Saturday, Jan. 16

COMMUNITY | The Coeur d'Alene Public Library is hosting LEGO-rama, the 11th annual event for master Lego artists. This year, the theme of the projects is around "building wellness." Check out the library's website for rules and entry.
