THIS WEEKEND IN MUSIC: Gibson! Jah! Grailfest!

Posted By on Fri, Mar 2, 2012 at 3:30 PM

TONIGHT!

Get your First Friday started by watching the live art of Jason Corcoran (aka Freetime Synthetic) at Saranac Public House, and listening to the funky rare grooves of DJ Breezy Brown. Free!

A Club will be packed tonight with Laura Gibson fans, returning to the Inland Northwest after playing in Pullman just a couple weeks ago. Read our interview with Laura Gibson here. She plays with the Vagabonds tonight at 7 pm. $10. Gotta be 21.

Spokane is home to quite a few tribute bands, but Elton Jah might be the most unique one among them. The band fuses together reggae grooves with their favorite Elton John songs. Check out our story on them here and see them live tonight at the Knitting Factory with Flying Spiders and MC Squared. The show is FREE! Check them out tonight at 8 pm. All-ages.

A solid bill of locals takes the stage tonight at Red Room Lounge: check out Department of Martyrs, the Camaros, Mythship and DJ Parafyn. Show starts at 7 pm. $5. Gotta be 21.

Continuing to book some of the best music in the Inland Northwest, Pullman's Belltower hosts another doozy tonight: the folk-pop of Ivan and Alyosha. The band plays with Saticoy at 8 pm. $8. All-ages.

SATURDAY!

Your chance to prove how much you love local metal acts has arrived. Northwest Metalfest, featuring performances by 13 Mag, Invasive, Immolate the Saints and a whole bunch of other bands, starts tomorrow at 3 pm at the Grail (4729 Seltice Ave, Coeur d'Alene). You read that right - the sun will still be up when you get there. It's $10 for an entire day of metal. Gotta be 18.

More locals tomorrow at the Knit: Mercy Brown, Age of Nefilim, Mecha Shiva, the Drip and Zan. 7:30 pm. $5; free if you are underage. All-ages.
