Chili, beers and bulls to start the weekend

The day many of us have been waiting for has arrived — huzzah! It's Friday! Check out the various events and Staff Picks to help plan your weekend.

If you don't have time, here are some highlights I spied looking at the events for Friday, Jan. 16:

FOOD & DRINK | Talk about a perfect way to celebrate some days off, the Lantern Tap House is hosting its Winter Beer Fest through Sunday. The tents are up, and the heaters are cranked. Read our story about the beers on hand, then check it out.

FOOD & DRINK | You might want to build up a thirst for that beer fest with a stop at the 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off at the Sinto Activity Center.

SPORTS & OUTDOORS | You might not be a fan of bull-riding, but the Spokane Arena is bringing in the best in the business Friday and Saturday for the Wrangler Bushwacker Invitational, where a bunch of riders will do their damnedest to stay on for eight seconds. And read our story about the event's namesake Bushwacker the bull before you go.

THEATER | The Spokane Civic Theatre opens up its new production of The Servant of Two Masters; read our story on the show and its director's return to the Civic.
