Merlyn's celebrates 35 years with a big party; English Beat and Slick Rick

Here are a few highlights for Monday, May 18: 

LIVE BANDS | The English Beat were pioneers of the 2-Tone ska movement in England in the early '80s, and they still sound great live thanks to lead singer Dave Wakeling. Read our interview with Wakeling, then consider hitting the show at The Bartlett. Here's a little sample of The English Beat: 

COMMUNITY | Merlyn's is celebrating its 35th birthday, and 35 years of providing the Inland Northwest with all the sci-fi, gaming and comic books. From 4 to 9 pm, join fellow fans for a party at the shop with free grub and some big sales. 

LIVE BANDS | The Pin! hosts some true old-school hip-hop royalty tonight as Slick Rick headlines, joined by Raw B, Jaeda, Lilac Linguistics, Tyrell and Moe Davis. Here's a bit of Slick Rick:
