The Gathering at the Falls Powwow begins Friday.

FILM | Enjoy a Movie with the Marmots at Glover Field as the Peaceful Valley Neighborhood Council screens Benny & Joon for free at dusk.
Why yes, that IS a giant pot of lentils. You can see for yourself at the National Lentil Festival in Pullman, Aug. 18-19.

COMMUNITY | It's a Spokane Parks Free Swim Day at Comstock Pool, so get out there and get splashy, people! Summer's a-wastin'. Hit that link to see what day is free at which pool.
WORDS | Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell is hosting a town hall at Gonzaga, so get tickets if you can, or figure out a way to watch/listen to the action.

LIVE BANDS | The Bartlett hosts what could turn out to be one of the best shows of the summer in Pinegrove, a New Jersey-based indie crew with shades of Pavement and Wilco in their sound. Here's a little sample:
EDUCATION | Ever consider getting into beekeeping, either to help the bee population or generate some delicious honey for your house? There's a free Introduction to Beekeeping class tonight at Shadle Library, so buzz on over.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
LIVE BANDS | When it comes to American treasures, Willie Nelson is pretty damn high on the list. The man is known as a country star, but his shows touch on jazz, folk, rock, you name it. He's joined for this sold-out gig at Northern Quest by Kacey Musgraves, one of country's brightest rising stars. Find a ticket if you can.
The B-52s headline Friday at the Festival at Sandpoint.

FOOD & DRINK | The Gilded Unicorn is hosting a special six-course Firestone Walker Beer Dinner, which sounds like a lovely way to start a week.
Tuesday, Aug. 1
FILM | If you dug the epic Grateful Dead documentary currently streaming on Amazon, or you just like the band, head to a Regal Cinemas nearby for the Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies 2017 for a screening of a 1989 show to celebrate what would have been Jerry Garcia's 75th birthday.

OUTDOORS | One great way to cool off is to hit the river or lake in a kayak. REI is hosting a free Kayaking Basics course tonight, so even if you've never tried it, you'll be in good shape.
FOOD | Clover is hosting its third annual Crab Boil tonight, so let them do all the work for dinner and get into some delicious crustacean, yo.
Pulp Fiction is back on the big screen this week at the Garland Theater.
Monday, June 26 COMMUNITY | Join the Witnesses for the Climate, a gathering of experts on climate change in town to testify on behalf of the Spokane Climate Protectors, as they gather for a talk at the Community Building.
Tuesday, June 27 FOOD & DRINK | Join Liberty Ciderworks for the launch party of Spokane Scrumpy Cider, a new quaff dedicated to raising money for Second Harvest.
MUSIC | Swing on by The Observatory for the psych-rock stylings of The Love Dimension, who will be joined by Vanessa Silberman, Mujahedeen and Runaway Octopus. Here's a little sample of The Love Dimension:
